AT&T Rate Plans for iPhone Online

Apple and AT&T have announced the rate plans for the iPhone. While many had speculated a $35-$45 data plan that would sit on top of a voice plan, the facts reveal a much simpler structure (of course, this is Apple calling the shots, right?).

There are three plans at $59.99 (450 minutes), $79.99 (900 minutes) and $99.99 (1350 minutes). All come with unlimited data for email and web. All come with 200 SMS messages (although you can add SMS plans to any of these plans for additional fees). All plans include unlimited night and weekend minutes, except the $59.99 plan, which includes 5000 night/weekend minutes. Of course, all include unlimited mobile to mobile and rollover minutes.

And for those of you who had hoped you could get away with out activating the phone through AT&T…

Minimum new 2-year wireless service plan and activation fee required to activate iPhone features, including iPod; plans are subject to AT&T credit approval.

This was the last piece of the puzzle I needed information on before I decided whether I would pick up an iPhone. The verdict? I’m getting one. I’ll probably order it online on Friday, as I’ll be traveling and won’t have the time to deal with the hysteria at the Apple/AT&T stores.
